You can almost call this the Manny Pacquiao eliminator bout.

A Floyd Mayweather Jr. and 'Sugar' Shane Mosley clash would be good for boxing. [Correction] A Floyd and Mosley fight would be great for boxing!

Best believe it. This is a fight that can put boxing back on the right track.

Mayweather will be able to legitimize his status as one of the best boxers by fighting someone who is also on top while Mosley's willingness to provide his blood in an Olympic-style drug test can bring some of the skeptical fans' faith back in the sport.

It's amazing how the photo that accompanies this article is more than 10 years old and these two are still perched on top of boxing's pedestal. What's more amazing is the fact that they've been fighting around the same weight class for several years yet have not found a way to face each other inside the ring- until now... well if Floyd finally takes a real challenge.

I mean, he will fight Mosley right? It just makes perfect sense because who else is out there for him? Berto and Punisher Paul are both managed by his guy Al Haymon so the best possible match-up and money making fight is Sugar Shane.

Mosley on the other hand has publicly said he is willing to take the WADA style drug testing Floyd requested against Manny Pacquiao. Good! Because at the end of the day, it's Mosley who has some doping history anyway and if Floyd wouldn't ask him to take the tests, it simply means he was making the fight against Pacquiao impossible to make.

Besides, Mosley deserves this fight. He has yet to cash in on his destruction of Antonio Margarito. If I were Golden Boy Promotions, I'd be mighty ashamed if I can't make this one happen for a partner in the firm. They rep Mayweather now too so this should be a done deal by now?

Makes perfect sense right?

Except of course that this is Floyd Mayweather Jr. we are talking about. Those who blame Pacquiao for their mega-fight not happening, all I can say is that Pacquiao has always given his fans the fights they wanted to see. He faced everybody they asked him to face. As far as Floyd is concerned however, you tell me if you wanted to see him fight Juan Manuel Marquez. Or when he fought Carlos Baldomir and Shamba Mitchell instead of Margarito, Mosley or Cotto.

That's all in the past though, and today, 'Money' can redeem himself for his fans sake. I don't know how long the Floydnuts can hold on and defend their boy any longer while firing blank bullets in the form of baseless accusations and a track record of not fighting the best. And if Floyd passes on this one in favor of a lesser opponent, they might very well shoot themselves.

I believe this fight will happen though, and it will definitely a fight everybody will want to see. I don't care if you are a Pacquiao fan or a Floyd hater, this match-up is just too 'sexy' to pass up.
