First, it was David Letterman; now, Sarah Palin has a new adversary in "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane. Why? The controversial cartoon decided to air a new episode on Sunday that made a jab at down syndrome. As many of us know, Palin's son Trig was born with the genetic disorder.

Sarah Palin first referred to the episode as a "kick in the gut," and then daughter Bristol decided to add some comments of her own:

“As a culture, shouldn’t we be more compassionate to innocent people –- especially those who are less fortunate? Shouldn’t we be willing to say that some things just are not funny? Are there any limits to what some people will do or say in regards to my little brother or others in the special needs community? If the writers of a particularly pathetic cartoon show thought they were being clever in mocking my brother and my family yesterday, they failed. All they proved is that they’re heartless jerks.”

"Family Guy" is known first and foremost for being a controversial show, and really all the Palins are doing here is feeding into the frenzy. Are the right to stand up for Trig? Probably so, but they must understand that MacFarlane is sitting in a chair somewhere cackling to himself.
